چکیده

This paper describes a 8–32 kb/s embedded speech codec submitted as a candidate for the ITU-T Embedded Variable Bit Rate (EV-VBR) standardization. The coder is built upon a 2-stage coding structure consisting of embedded ACELP coding from 8 to 16kb/s and embedded TCX coding at 24 and 32 kb/s. The coder is designed to support bandwidth scalability (narrow band and wide band signal) and bit-rate scalability (8~32 kb/s). The output bit-stream produced by the coder is scalable, consisting of core layer and four enhancement layers at 8 kb/s, 12 kb/s, 16 kb/s, 24 kb/s and 32 kb/s individually. ITU-T’s test results showed that this coder has good performance compared with reference codec.

Microsoft Word - A novel super-wideband embedded speech and audio c

This paper proposes a multi-layer super-wideband embedded speech and audio coding algorithm extending bit rates from 36 to 64 kb/s on the basis of ITU-T Recommendation G.729.1 with a multi-stage coding structure. This codec consists of three embedded stages: G.729.1 wideband coding operating in the range from 8 to 32 kb/s, modified Modulated Lapped Transform (MLT) coding of the band (7-14 kHz) ...

The adaptive multirate wideband speech codec (AMR-WB)

This paper describes the Adaptive Multirate Wideband (AMR-WB) speech codec recently selected by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for GSM and the third generation mobile communication WCDMA system for providing wideband speech services. The AMR-WB speech codec algorithm was selected in December 2000 and the corresponding specifications were approved in March 2001. The AMR-WB codec...

A 16 kb/s Wideband CELP-Based Speech Coder Using Mel-Generalized Cepstral Analysis

We propose a wideband CELP-type speech coder at 16 kb/s based on a mel-generalized cepstral (MGC) analysis technique. MGC analysis makes it possible to obtain a more accurate representation of spectral zeros compared to linear predictive (LP) analysis and take a perceptual frequency scale into account. A major advantage of the proposed coder is that the benefits of MGC representation of speech ...

Multiband Vector Quantization Based on Inner Product for Wideband Speech Coding

This paper describes a multiband vector quantization (VQ) technique based on inner product for wideband speech coding at 16 kb/s. Our approach consists of splitting the input speech into two separate bands and then applying an independent coding scheme for each band. A code excited linear prediction (CELP) coder is used in the lower band while a transform based coding strategy is applied in the...

Super-Wideband Bandwidth Extension for Wideband Audio Codecs Using Switched Spectral Replication and Pitch Synthesis

This paper describes a new bandwidth extension algorithm which is targeted at high quality audio communication over IP networks. The algorithm is part of the Huawei/ETRI candidate for the ITU-T super-wideband (SWB) extensions of Rec. G.729.1 and G.718. In the SWB candidate codec, the 7-14 kHz frequency band of speech and audio signals is represented in terms of temporal and spectral envelopes. ...
